Tips & Guidelines for Contributors
At Tech in Motion, we’re proud to spotlight the ideas and expertise of tech leaders across our community. If you’re interested in sharing your insights on our blog, this guide will walk you through the article submission process, outline best practices for impactful content, and show you how your work will be shared with our community of thousands of tech professionals.
Step 1: Propose Your Topic
Before writing your draft, please submit a short proposal so we can ensure your idea aligns with our audience’s needs and current content plans.
Your proposal should include:
- A working title or core topic
- A short summary (2-4 sentences) outlining your focus
- Any technologies, tools, or frameworks you plan to cover
- (Optional) How the piece ties to a recent Tech in Motion event, workshop, or trend
What makes a strong topic?
- Practical strategies, tools, or frameworks
- Real-world applications, case studies, or lessons learned
- Deeper analysis of industry trends or concepts
- Clear takeaways, should as: technical skills (e.g., coding, debugging, system architecture); strategic insights (e.g., scaling, hiring, industry shifts)
Tip: You’re welcome to submit multiple ideas—we’ll help select the best fit.
Step 2: Write Your Draft
Once your proposal is approved, you can begin drafting your article.
Formatting & Style Guidelines:
- Length: Aim for ~1,000 words. Articles must be at least 300 words. Longer pieces are welcome if they provide depth.
- Tone: Business casual—professional but approachable, as if explaining to a peer.
- Visuals: Add diagrams, screenshots, code snippets, or charts where helpful (we’ll optimize formatting if needed).
Include with your draft:
- A short author bio (2-3 sentences)
- A headshot (optional, but encouraged)
Step 3: Submit Your Draft
- Send your draft as a Google Doc or Word file via email.
- Our editorial team will review within 7–10 business days and share feedback if needed.
- Once finalized, we’ll confirm the publish date and provide a live link.
A note on editing process: We may make minor edits for clarity, flow, and formatting. If substantial edits are required, we’ll share an updated version for your review before publishing.
